From the Principal One of the many things I love about working in a school is that there is always such a variety of activities going on at any one time. This week has been no exception. Our International Weeks are underway starting with Spanish Day on Monday with the Churros van on site and Paella being served at Centrepoint Café. The GISSA Intermediate Boys’ Soccer championships were held on the oval yesterday and saw our boys finish as champions with a 2-0 win over Christian College. The…

From the Principal It would be remiss of me to not start today’s e-news with a big shout out to the Matilda’s for their fantastic win over Canada over the weekend, moving them through to the round of 16 in the World Cup. What an inspirational demonstration of resilience and team spirit to overcome the loss to Nigeria and come back so well against the current Olympic champions. Three of our Kardinia students had a special experience at the game being flag bearers for the Australian team in…

From the Principal Every week in our e-news there are stories of students undertaking great experiences and making the most of the opportunities that are presented to them, both at school and in the wider community. Even making the most of one club, one committee, one co-curricular activity, camp or learning experience can make a difference in a student’s life. The more students can avail themselves of these experiences, show commitment, curiosity, a great work ethic and passion, the more…

From the Principal Welcome back to Term 3 2023 It is hard to believe that we are now halfway through the school year. While the winds have been icy cold, the smiles on the faces of the students I was greeted by as I walked through the school today were warm. We have welcomed several new students and new staff to the school this term. The students have come from across the state, the country and indeed the world. Some will stay for a short time as exchange students and others will be with us…

From the Principal As we reach the end of first Semester, I want to take this time to reflect a little on what I am grateful for this year. I continue to appreciate and be grateful that we have been able to come to school in person every day. I am grateful for our beautiful grounds and surroundings in which we can work, learn and teach. I am grateful to live in a city like Geelong, which has all the benefits of a big metropolis without the hustle and bustle. I am grateful that we can once…

The award recognises not only our Overseas Students program, but also our commitment to global learning through our Chiang Mai program, our sister school relationships with Gotemba Nishi High School and St Alyre in France, as well as our cornerstone of International Mindedness. I am very proud of the…

From the Principal Many of you will be aware of the recent decision by the Victorian Government in delivering their latest budget to remove the payroll tax exemption from some independent schools. As you can imagine this decision, which came about with no consultation with stakeholders and took us all by surprise, has created a great deal of uncertainty for many schools and their communities across Victoria. No doubt, you are all wondering how this affects Kardinia International College. At…

From the Principal Today I spent an inspiring day with Mr Chapman and members of our Interact Club at the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne. We spent time meeting with Rotarians from around the world and learned about many of the incredible projects Rotary is involved in. Some are well known like Habitat for Humanity, ShelterBox and End Polio and countless others making small but meaningful differences to communities such as Crutches for Africa, End Trachoma, Teacher in a Box and…
