From the Principal As we reach the end of first Semester, I want to take this time to reflect a little on what I am grateful for this year. I continue to appreciate and be grateful that we have been able to come to school in person every day. I am grateful for our beautiful grounds and surroundings in which we can work, learn and teach. I am grateful to live in a city like Geelong, which has all the benefits of a big metropolis without the hustle and bustle. I am grateful that we can once…

From the Principal Many of you will be aware of the recent decision by the Victorian Government in delivering their latest budget to remove the payroll tax exemption from some independent schools. As you can imagine this decision, which came about with no consultation with stakeholders and took us all by surprise, has created a great deal of uncertainty for many schools and their communities across Victoria. From the Principal Today I spent an inspiring day with Mr Chapman and members of our Interact Club at the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne. They were a lovely group of people who volunteered their time to be thought partners with us in the process of ongoing school improvement. They had many wonderful observations about our school and what is going well and were particularly impressed with the students that they met. They will also have some constructive, supportive recommendations for us to work towards…

From the Principal This week is Education Week in Victoria, Education Week in the Education State. The theme for this year is ‘Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate’. Move involves encouraging physical activity Make is related to hands on activities and Motivate is about student voice and choice. There are so many ways in which these ideas can be enacted and interpreted but I think one very tangible way that we are making a concerted effort to have active learners is through our Outdoor…

From the Principal Last week we held three very special events at the College. The first event was the opening of the new Junior School redevelopment. It is quite incredible what has been achieved in 18 months since the first hole was dug for the new build. I encourage our families when you get a chance to look around the two new buildings and surrounds, they are beautiful and wonderful learning spaces. Now we refocus on areas in the Senior School which is also very exciting. The second…
