Four Cornerstones
Life at Kardinia is based on four cornerstones.
Living the Motto
The first cornerstone involves the ideal of providing a real and living motto, “wisdom leads to respect and friendship,” that inspires members of our College community to act in ways that promote peace and harmony in their world.
Our Students
Our students through our authentic learning environment develop the wisdom that leads them to have respect for themselves, others and the environment. Friendship is developed and nurtured through respectful relationships.
Our Staff
Our staff develop all aspects of the whole person by promoting and modelling “Living the Motto” in their actions and interactions with all members of the College community.
Our Graduates
Our graduates leave Kardinia, wiser and with a strong understanding of the importance of maintaining respect for themselves, others and the environment. They leave us having made lifelong friendships and with knowledge of the importance of respectful relationships.
International Mindedness
The second cornerstone involves the ideal of fostering internationally minded, ethical, global citizens who value and appreciate cultural diversity and engage in a shared guardianship of a just, peaceful and sustainable planet.
Our Students
Our students are empowered to develop as compassionate globally minded citizens who can act and think with a global perspective. They show understanding and respect for all people and cultures. Students are provided with a wealth of opportunities to connect and take action to benefit local, national and international communities and environments.
Our Staff
Our staff are committed to global understanding and engage and challenge our students, families and the wider community to be active participants in a compassionate and sustainable world. Their role is to challenge and guide, to provide a strong, ethical foundation on which students can develop their own local, national and global responses.
Our Graduates
Our graduates, through a deep respect and compassion for all cultures, take actions in their local, national and global community that promote a just, peaceful and sustainable world.
Individuals as Lifelong Learners
The third cornerstone involves the ideal that individuals from our College recognise the importance of being lifelong learners. Through an inquiry based and concept driven approach to learning, and our extensive co-curricular experiences, we provide our students with a multitude of opportunities to grow and flourish as learners.
Our Students
Our students are valued as individuals with unique abilities, skills, needs, interests and goals. They are encouraged to embrace the journey of learning and recognise that the attributes they develop during their time at the College are designed to enable them to be lifelong learners.
Our Staff
Our staff model lifelong learning through learning alongside their students, collaborating and sharing knowledge with their colleagues and undertaking professional development opportunities to expand their skills and knowledge.
Our Graduates
Our graduates understand that their learning journey does not cease when they reach the end of their formal studies. They will be imbued with an inquiring mind and a growth mindset to enable them to be flexible and agile learners throughout their lifetime.
Technological Advancement and Innovation
The fourth cornerstone involves the ideal of embracing technological advancement and a culture of innovation that enables our College community to continuously explore and utilise technologies to improve the way we learn both today and in the future.
Our Students
Our students learn to be respectful and responsible digital citizens. They develop into future ready learners who can thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape and they have the means to be innovative in their thinking and problem solving. Social, personal, intercultural, critical thinking and ethical skills and abilities are developed through using technology and applied to the use of technology.
Our Staff
Our staff proactively adopt changes in technology to explore, enhance and embrace innovative practices. They do this through engaging in professional development opportunities, embedding technological advancement and innovation into their practice and collaborating with others. They model being ethical and responsible digital citizens.
Our Graduates
Our graduates possess the skills of digital citizenship to enable them to confidently, respectfully and positively engage in the world. They have the technological and innovative attributes to enable them to succeed in all spheres of their life both professionally and personally.
